The best places to eat near our B&B in Eryri | Snowdonia and North Wales

An exciting food and drink scene has developed in Eryri | Snowdonia and North Wales in recent years!

With both the mountains and the sea in close proximity to each other you will discover during your holiday some of the finest produce and ingredients that Wales is famous for.

Whilst the location of our B&B in the heart of the region means you are never too far from the best places to eat and drink here.

So whether you want a traditional Welsh pub or inn serving real ales and home-cooked food; a Michelin star restaurant creating amazing dishes; or a cool cafe for coffee and cake - there really is something for everybody.

We try to include lots of places that we know make an effort to cater for vegetarian, vegan / plant-based, coeliac and gluten-free diets.

Best places to eat in our village, Trefriw


For lunch and dinner Trefriw has an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants for eating out, and all are just a short walk away from our B&B!

Right next door to our B&B, The Old Ship is a traditional Welsh village pub. It serves excellent home-cooked, locally sourced food and cask ales.

A secret gate in our garden leads to the large riverside beer garden!

Lindsay and Ann have a lovely, traditional brasserie serving excellent food, and offer a very warm, friendly welcome just a short walk away from us.

The three courses offer on Sundays - including a roast! - is highly recommended.

Next door but one to us!

This small restaurant is run by Anna and Arwel and serves evening meals in a homely, cosy setting.

Definitely try the desserts!

Under new management at the end of 2023, it now offers Indian and Nepalese cuisine and Sunday roasts.

  • Llyn Crafnant Cafe

    At Llyn Crafnant above Trefriw there is also the Llyn Crafnant Cafe in a beautiful location right on the lake in Eryri | Snowdonia National Park - it is a lovely walk to it from our door!

    (cafe open THURSDAY to SUNDAY and Bank Holiday MONDAYS - closed in the winter)

  • Whilst the village butchers (right opposite our B&B) sells excellent picnic provisions made on the premises, including their famous pies and sausage rolls!

Best places to eat in Llanrwst and Betws-y-Coed

Other cafes, pubs and restaurants for eating out can be found nearby in both:

  • Llanrwst - our nearest town which is a pleasant 25-30 minute walk from our B&B, or 5 mins drive, and

  • Betws-y-Coed - the popular tourist village which is 5 miles by car

    Modern, stylish and very friendly licensed restaurant open for dinner (5-9pm), and serving the best fish and chips (including gluten-free options), pizzas and gourmet burgers.

  • Yr Hen Danerdy / The Old Tannery

    (open THURSDAY to SUNDAY)

    Great coffee, cakes and lunches and super friendly service, and an outside balcony with fantastic views across the valley. We’re regulars!!!

    Snowdonia Bikes is conveniently located underneath for bike hire!

  • La Barrica and Caffi Contessa

    Both good lunch options on the square in the heart of Llanrwst

  • Tu Hwnt I’r Bont Tearoom

    (closed during the winter)

    Famous photogenic tearoom dating from 1480, in a picturesque location on the west bank of the River Conwy

  • Blas ar Fwyd

    Deli and wine shop opposite each other in Llanrwst, with the latter having an amazing selection of wines, beers and Welsh spirits - a good option for a picnic lunch or maybe wine and nibbles for dinner. Well worth a visit!

The village is small and very friendly, with a great little restaurant called Chandlers, an excellent pub called The Old Ship (right next door to the B&B), a butchers, cafe and historic woollen mill.
