Walking or driving to the Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall, near Trefriw

The Grey Mare’s Tail is a stunning ‘double’ waterfall cascading into a wooden glade and - thus far! - remains relatively undiscovered by social media!!!

It is technically currently ‘closed’ as the gates leading to it are locked, but… well… you can decide what to do….!

You can walk or drive to it from Trefriw :

Walking or driving to Llyn Geirionydd, near Trefriw

Llyn Geirionydd is a beautiful lake above Trefriw where wild swimming, SUP and other watersports are permitted - it is also just a lovely place for a walk and explore!

You can easily walk to the lake from the door, or it is a short drive :

Accessing the path to Llyn Geirionydd from Crafnant House

How to access the trail to the lake on foot - to return just retrace your steps, or continue to Llyn Crafnant (see below)

How to get to Llyn Geirionydd by car

Walking to both Llyn Geirionydd and Llyn Crafnant, near Trefriw

This is one of the most popular walks from the door that our guests do - a scenic 7-8 mile hike above the village that takes in both lakes.

Use the guide to ‘accessing the path’ to initially find the trail that starts from Trefriw.
